Driving Operations Assessment Resource Project

Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council

What the client wanted

The Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council (TLISC) – which maintains the Transport and Logistics Training Package and is responsible for the industry’s workforce development agenda – required a suite of assessment resources to support assessors and participants in the assessment of units of competency across driving, logistics and warehousing qualifications. While resources needed to reflect industry standards and practice, flexibility was required to meet individual workplaces and the needs of assessment candidates.

What we did

We conducted research into each industry, including site visits and discussions with industry contacts, to develop an understanding of industry processes and terminology. Drawing on our experience in instructional design, we analysed each unit of competency for assessment requirements and developed workplace assessment tasks. We then consulted with industry and subject matter experts to ensure the assessment tasks were accurate, reflected workplace practices, and used language and terminology relevant to each industry. Finally, we developed instructions for an assessor to conduct the assessment task and a candidate to perform them.

The result

We produced industry and AQTF validated assessment resources (both RTO Resource and Candidate Guides) for 250 units of competency across warehousing, logistics and driving operations, representing 500 individual assessment resources. These resources captured industry standards while incorporating flexibility to accommodate individual workplace and learner needs. TLISC has made these  resources available free of charge on their website.
